The Dassel Red Rooster Days festival draws quite a crowd to Dassel during Labor Day weekend each year.
Beginning as a one-day event that took place on Labor Day, the festival has grown throughout the years to encompass the whole weekend, and includes the region’s largest parade, and a huge chicken BBQ.
This year’s 63rd annual Red Rooster Days is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 2 through Monday, Sept. 5.
Those attending the 2022 celebration can plan on a full weekend.
The fun begins Friday, with the Dassel’s Farmers Market being open for business.
Saturday has something fun for everyone, including 7-mile and 18-mile bike rides, the Grande Day parade; and the coronation of new Dassel Ambassadors at Saints Field.
Sunday highlights include a quilt show and fireworks.
Labor Day Monday is what people really crow about – it’s the day Dassel hosts the largest chicken BBQ in the state.
The chicken BBQ menu makes a full plate: one-half of a chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, bread, milk, and coffee.
